The Forge is where trainee counsellors transform knowledge into practice, supported by specialist training, real client experience and a community committed to professional growth.
At Pegasus, we don't simply offer volunteer placements – we invest in developing confident, ethical and skilled counsellors who make a lasting difference to the lives of men.
Every successful applicant is invited to join THE FORGE – our professional development journey where learning meets practice. Combining real client experience with specialist training, THE FORGE supports you in developing the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to become a safe, ethical and effective counsellor throughout the first 6 – 8 months of your placement.
Following Pegasus Induction Day and completion of your onboarding requirements, you'll begin working with clients under the support of regular clinical supervision, while continuing your professional development through a series of specialist workshops.

Investment
£250
The cost of joining The Forge is £250. This fee is payable only after you have successfully secured and accepted a volunteer placement. It contributes towards the delivery of specialist workshops, training materials and resources throughout the programme.
Pegasus subsidises the remaining cost as part of our commitment to developing the next generation of confident, ethical and skilled counsellors.

If shortlisted, you'll be invited to an informal interview to discuss your experience, placement requirements and what you hope to gain from volunteering with Pegasus.
Successful applicants will receive a conditional offer of a volunteer placement, subject to completing the onboarding process.
You'll be invited to enrol on THE FORGE — our professional development programme that runs throughout your first 6 – 8 months with Pegasus.
Before seeing clients, all volunteers attend a Pegasus Induction Day to complete onboarding requirements and get to know the team and organisation.
Following induction, you'll begin working with clients under the support of regular clinical supervision from our experienced supervisors.
Throughout your placement you'll continue attending THE FORGE workshops, building specialist knowledge and practical skills in men's mental health.
Many of our volunteers go on to take on further responsibilities within Pegasus, joining a community of skilled, compassionate counsellors making a real difference.

No. Once you have attended Pegasus Induction Day and completed the required onboarding checks, you will begin working with clients while continuing your professional development through the remaining workshops.
Yes. THE FORGE is a required part of your placement with Pegasus and is designed to support you in becoming a safe, ethical and effective counsellor throughout your first 6 – 8 months.
Workshop dates are confirmed for each volunteer intake and communicated to volunteers in advance. They are delivered throughout your first 6 – 8 months with Pegasus.
The £250 fee is payable only after you have successfully secured and accepted a volunteer placement. You will not be asked to pay before receiving a confirmed offer.
Yes. Regular clinical supervision is provided throughout your placement. Our experienced supervisors support you in developing your practice and managing your caseload safely and effectively.
